RFID

RFID is by nature is not a yes/no 'will/will not' work technology (although the transmissions are digital). By definition due to the laws of physics what will work in one area at a certain time perfectly, will not work the same in (what appears to be) another identical area (due to white/black noise and interference). Some systems that will work perfectly well at 3M with boxes of certain goods will only work to 25% of this if the environment changes i.e. people are in the area or someone parks a metal mail trolley close to the field of an antenna.

For this reason it is important that the irrespective of what systems are preferred or chosen for any specific task or tasks that a set of pilots or periodical technology tests including in certain environments a RF spectrum analyser survey of the designated areas.
